Broiler Pan

With most ranges or ovens, the broiler pan is made of porcelain-coated steel. You should clean it with a non-abrasive cleanser. We sell the Broiler Pan and Insert on our website if you want to remove the broiler pan instead and buy another.

Range/Oven Control panel

With the majority of ranges or ovens, there is a control panel made of glass and painted a metal color. Non-abrasive cleaners can be safely used on these surfaces. Liquid degreasers, are great for cleaning.

Do note to never spray cleaners onto the control panel directly. Cleaner on a soft, damp rag works best to wipe the surface.

Cooktop

All porcelain cooktops can be cleaned easily using a non-abrasive cleanser.

Also, make sure to not pour the cleanser onto the cooktop directly. Rather, apply some cleaner onto a damp, soft rug and after wipe the surface clean. Our service technicians specialize in cooktop repair, call today to schedule an appointment.

Burner drip pans (bowls)

Every 2-3 years, you should replace the bowls or drips pans, which can be found under the heating element on electric stoves and ranges and beneath the grate on gas stoves and ranges. The reason for this is that isn’t normally possible to clean them completely once they’re stained.

Original bowls can be replaced assuming you have your applicance model number. Universal bowls are available and can be found by doing a search on the internet.

Glass cooktops and windows

Glass and ceramic cooktops should only be cleaned with products designed especially for this specific purpose. The Frigidaire Rangetop Cleaner is a great option.

You can use any oven glass cleaner to clean your glass oven windows. However, note to never clean glass surfaces if they are hot!

Knob care

A small dab of dish detergent applied to a damp rag can be used to safely clean your range or oven’s knobs. However, you may need to purchase replacement knobs if the lettering or numbers have faded away.

Rang/Oven Light bulbs

You might need to remove a dome or glass covering to reach the light bulbs in your range or oven but they can be replaced. A 40 watt appliance bulb, available for purchase on our site, is usually necessary.

Oven Cleaning

To clean your self-cleaning oven, look at the manual that came with your unit. In short, the oven’s self0cleaning feature heats the oven’s interior to a temperate as hot as is needed to burn the residue left in the oven. It is not usually a good idea to clean the inside of the oven with a spray cleaner. You should call the manufacturer or consult the owner’s manual if you need more information.

If your oven does not have the self-cleaning feature, you can simply purchase an oven cleaner at a hardware or grocery store.

Solid burner element

Solid metal heating element burners can be found in some stoves or ranges. The stove or range is not ceramic or glass and these do not have a coil. We provide this replacement with our oven repair service, call today to schedule an appointment.

Interior cleaning & deodorizing

There is no need to clean the inside of your dishwasher with regular use, but you should clean it if you sense a foul odor. If mold grows and thus causes a bad smell, you can clean your dishwasher with any number of different products. For example, Glisten Dishwasher Cleaner and Deodorizer is a great product that you can find at RepairClinic.com.

Dishwasher Exterior Cleaning

Use a wet sponge, with some dish detergent, to wipe the outside of your dishwasher clean.

Dishwasher Rust Removal

RoVer Rust Remover removes rust stains with ease! This product, which can be purchased at RepairClinic.com, cleans rust from the inside of your dishwasher with ease.

Dish Rack Repairs

You should be aware of corrosion and ultimately rust if the plastic coating wears off of dish racks’ tines in your dishwasher. Repair kits are available to be purchased at RepairClinic.com for these tines in Gray, White, or Light Blue, Gray. If you would like us to repair your dishwasher, call us at (800) 705-5771 to schedule an appointment

Dishwasher Filter Cleaning

In order to clean your filter, look at the bottom of your dishwasher or under the lower spray arm. This needs to be cleaned routinely to ensure optimal performance. If the filter contains holes, you must replace it so that the pump is protected. Replacing the filter will also protect the motor seals from extra particles in your unit. Also consult the manual that came with your dishwasher for further information on how to move it so that you can clean it.

Dishwasher Spray Arm Cleaning

Clogging in the small holes of the spray arm(s) can result over time. Little pieces of glass, paper, and toothpicks, not to mention other items, can accumulate in the spray arm(s) of your dishwasher. If you want your dishwasher to operate optimally, clean out these small holes when you have a chance.

Manual-defrost refrigerator/freezers

With the purchase of a manual defrost refrigerator/freezers, little maintenance is required.

If frost does accumulate on the freezer’s inside walls, with a thickness of about half an inch, make sure to remove the food from the refrigerator/freezer. After, unplug the unit or turn off the thermostat so that all of the frost can melt.

You may turn the unit back on when the frost has melted completely. Then simply wait for it to reach its operating temperature before restocking it with food.

Self-defrosting refrigerator/freezers

Self-defrosting refrigerators/freezers do not require you to manually defrost. Every 6 to 8 hours, the unit slightly heats up its cooling coils, which melts any frost accumulated on the coils. The water itself then drains into a shallow pan, which is located at the bottom of the refrigerator/freezer.

It is also not necessary to empty the pan because the water in it will evaporate. However, it may begin to smell bad over time so you may want to remove it for periodic cleaning. Simply detach the lower grill then slide the pan out the front of the refrigerator/freezer.

Please note to be careful if you notice mold growing in the drain pan as may pose a health concern. If you are sensitive to mold or your drain pan is removable, consider, every once in a while, cleaning the drain pan.

At least once a year, you must clean the set of coils and a cooling fan, which can be found under your refrigerator/freezer. The coils may resemble a grate or a wide radiator. You just need to unplug the refrigerator/freezer and use a Refrigerator Condenser Brush to clean the unit. At the end, use your vacuum cleaner to clean any lint, pet hair, and/or other residue from the coils.

Baking soda works great for most odors in the refrigerator/freezer. If you would like us to repair your refrigerator, give us a call at (800) 705-5771 to schedule an appointment.

Our team includes certified repair professionals with extensive factory training and years of experience working on Fisher & Paykel appliances, including Active Smart refrigerators, DishDrawer model dishwashers, AeroTech stoves and ovens, and all other major appliances produced under the New Zealand-based firm’s label.

First-time callers often question whether having their appliances repaired is even worth the time or effort. While there are certain cheap knock-off appliances on the market that are probably better to just discard when they start malfunctioning, Fisher & Paykel products are definitely not among them. Although Fisher & Paykel sells their products worldwide, their biggest market is the USA. That’s because American consumers recognize quality when they see it. Fisher & Paykel appliances combine cutting-edge performance and revolutionary energy-saving features in a sleekly designed package. They require expert repair and maintenance care if they are to remain in optimal condition, however, so please don’t entrust yours to any self-proclaimed “handyman.” If you are reading this, you have already found Sacramento’s most qualified Fisher & Paykel repair professionals. The rest is easy…just contact us by phone or online today!

Do you have an appliance emergency such as a water leak or, even worse, a gas leak? American Appliance Repair Services is here to help, and offers same day emergency services at no additional charge…even on weekends and holidays. If your problem isn’t an emergency, we’ll schedule your appointment at a time that works best for you and will never keep you waiting around wondering when or if our crew will arrive. We will match any competitor’s pricing apples for apples, provide you with a detailed estimate before we begin, and will only perform (and bill for) those services mutually agreed on in advance. No gimmicks, rip offs, or hidden charges…ever!

There is no denying that many big name appliance repair companies have a justified reputation for poor customer service and unscrupulous billing practices. American Appliance Repair Services was founded by industry veterans who wanted to provide Sacramento residents with an independent appliance repair company that combines highly skilled personnel, affordable pricing, quality customer service, and, above all, integrity and respect. If you are looking for Sacramento’s Fisher & Paykel appliance repair specialists, American Appliance Repair Services is the company for you. Broken appliances never fix themselves and can often be dangerous, so don’t hesitate to call today. We’ll get the job done fast, get it done right, and get it done at a reasonable price.
